The drama continues..
(NST) The drama behind the controversial appointment of Pas’ Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin as Perak Mentri besar is still boiling, split between two places – the meeting of Nizar and the other two MB nominees, Ngeh Koo Ham and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, with the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah in Istana Kinta in Ipoh, and the swearing in ceremony at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
Although Nizar’s appointment provoked a disapproving outburst from DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, the palace insisted that Nizar was the apt choice, given that the coalition had given their three names for the Sultan of Perak to make the selection.
It would seem that the haggling on who should be in the Exco has compelled more negotiations into the night, prompting a postponement in the swearing in of Nizar as Mentri Besar.
Later, Ngeh issued a statement that Raja Nazri Shah had instructed the coalition to collect the signatures of all 31 DAP-PKR-Pas assemblymen that they:
- agree to work together under a coalition government; and,
- also agree that Nizar is their collective choice as Mentri Besar.
Ngeh denied that the postponement was due to PKR's threat to pull out of the coalition because they didn't get their Exco seat allocation.
