Tun Mahathir is unlikely to contest to be UMNO General Assembly delegate this year.
(The Star) SUNGAI SIPUT: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will not contest to be a delegate in the coming Umno general assembly despite obtaining three nominations from the Kubang Pasu division.
Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said his father felt he had had enough and was tired of the ways of the Kubang Pasu division.
“In view of the response of its members last year, I think it is time for him not to be involved in the election of the delegates,” said Mukhriz yesterday after opening the Sungai Siput Umno Youth division meeting here.
Last year, Dr Mahathir received 15 nominations from a total of 138 branches to contest for the post.
However, he lost in his bid, coming in ninth out of the 15 aspirants who vied for the seven seats.
