PUTRAJAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad confirmed that he will not contest to be a delegate in the next Umno general assembly.
This was despite obtaining three nominations from the Kubang Pasu division.
The former Prime Minister said being nominated did not mean he could win to be a delegate.
Last year, Dr Mahathir received 15 nominations from a total of 138 branches to contest for the post.
However, he lost, coming in ninth out of the 15 aspirants who vied for the seven seats.
Mahathir was speaking to reporters after a meeting with Somali Land vice-president Ahmed Yusof Yasin at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here on Wednesday.
Dr Mahathir added that he would attend this year’s Langkawi International Dialogue but would not present any working paper.
