Move on, Muhyiddin tells Dr Mahathir

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been told to stop criticising the administration and move on.

"We know that Tun does not agree with some of the decisions that we have made," said Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday after opening the Subang Umno divisional meeting.

"But the Government has given its explanation, and I believe we do not have to waste time harping on the issues anymore.

"Now that the Budget has been tabled and the Ninth Malaysian Plan unveiled, we have to move forward and develop our country. These issues do not help us achieve this. It is better that we use the time to explain to the people the Government’s development programmes."

Muhyiddin also touched on the problems faced by Malays over the past few years in terms of economic growth.

"It has been static and there is no sign of improvement. This is a serious matter as in 14 years we will be a developed nation. If nothing is done, then the younger generation will blame present leaders."
